JULIAN OPIE

Julian Opie was born in 1958, and graduated from Goldsmiths in 1982. He did achieve some early gallery success, but his unique style was brought to the public eye when he was asked to design a cover for a compilation album for the British band 'Blur' in 2000. Since then he has become one of the UK's most significant artist's of his generation, aswell as becoming internationally successful.

Julian Opie is a trustee of the Tate Gallery, he was also the subject of a film by Illuminations in their theEYE series, in which they profile contemporary visual artists in Britain. He was also the subject of a book by Mary Horlock published by Tate Publishing as part of their Modern Artist series.
