Contemporary lenticular artist Boyd stages miniature figures into a play on words. He’s back at Woolff Gallery this December, spinning modern and cult references in signature tongue-in-cheek style.

Boyd offers an eccentric escape from reality in the form of lenticular photographs. He meticulously builds each minature set (the characters are 3D printed) then photographs these dioramas with incredible skill. Having met huge success with his space travel and TFL map series, and recently, an exhibition at the UN, the Arts Council-sponsored artist now turns to a new set of works.

 

‘Minor Misdemeanours’ features ‘Motherboard,’ a dive into the world of circuit-boards and technology, ‘Rainbow’ a colourful and limited edition play on city maps, as well as a feast of food puns.

 

Boyd's work almost always bring a smile. Be it a cowboy riding a nest of spaghetti (Spaghetti Western), or a circuit-board crime scene (cyber crime), each montage taps into the joys and obscurities of Boyd’s unparalleled imagination.
