Several years ago ONYX was admitted into ICU with Septic shock after treading on a rusty nail. He spent weeks in a coma on life-support, many of his symptoms were similar to those of COVID. When the virus hit the world in 2020 he found himself incredibly fearful of the consequences. He wrote a few words, see below:

"The piece shows the world in Lockdown and also my mind in Lockdown. Where I would normally create sculptures with stories built inside and containing a number of layers, this piece is completely hollow, this represents what had happened to my mind. COVID had simply left a great void. A void filled with fear...

The face of the earth in this piece is constucted using destructive looking materials representing al that was going on all around the world during COVID in 2020.
The one thing that helped me through this was knowing that the NHS are capable of amazing things and that they would eventually come up with the answer, I just needed to sit tight and wait for the vaccine and that that is exactly what I did". ONYX

Baby Bear

Photograph - Archival C-type print with non-reflective protective face mount

Edition of 9, with black wood frame

160 x 110cm / 63 x 44ins

£4,200

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Graeme Purdy was awarded 2nd place in the Sony World photography Awards 2021 (wildlife and nature category). Congratulations and well deserved, Purdy's photographs are truly breathtaking!

Baby Bear is the latest addition to Purdy's Eight Feet series. About this photograph, Graeme Purdy wrote:

"On location in remote Alaska. Camping inside our electric fence, living with the bears.

It took a few long days on the river watching the bears to start to understand their behaviour and the real hotspots.

We then focused on an area the bears lived to fish for salmon. Set up some cameras and waited for the moment to fire the shutter. The slightest camera sound was enough to get the bears attention so timing was key. This was a bear we grew to love, an 18 month old bear who hadn’t a care in the world as mummy bear was there to show him the ropes".
